Two young brothers who went missing after their mother dropped them off to sign in at their Manhattan charter school Wednesday were found safe at a park near their home hours later, authorities said.
The names of the missing kids, who are 13 and 10, have not been released. The mother dropped the boys off on the corner near Kipp Infinity Charter School on West 133rd Street in the morning and went to park her car, according to officials and a statement released by the school.
Once the mother parked, she went inside to confirm they were there, the school said. They were not.
The kids were found unharmed a few hours later at a park not far from their home after police tracked a phone.
"KIPP staff immediately determined that the students had not entered the school building and notified NYPD," the school said in a statement. "By mid-day, NYPD had located the students. We are relieved that they have been found, and are safe, sound and back in school."
