A medical marijuana company is set to roll out a home delivery service in New York City and Long Island.
Vireo Health in Albany will begin deliveries Friday to patients in Brooklyn, Queens, Nassau and parts of Suffolk County who suffer from debilitating diseases, such as cancer and Lou Gehrig's disease.
Vireo says they're ready.
"Specialized vehicles, specialized training for personnel that are going to be doing the deliveries," Scientific Director for Vireo Health Eric Greenbaum said. "We like to go above and beyond."
Deliveries will expand to Westchester, the Bronx, Manhattan, Staten Island and eventually to the Capital Region and the Southern Tier.
Since last January, patients with certain conditions have been able to obtain nonsmokable marijuana through dispensaries in New York.
Missy Miller, the mother of 17-year-old Oliver, said her son used to have hundreds of seizures a day. Now, since he started taking cannabis oil about a year and a half ago, it's anywhere from four to 14.

Miller credits medical marijuana and she is excited delivery is now an option.
"I'm happy that they are doing this," she said. "I'm happy that they are moving forward."
Five companies are licensed by the state to cultivate, manufacture and dispense medical marijuana.
