Rockland County Man Made Facebook Death Threats Against Bloomberg, Cuomo: Police

Police say they found two rifles, bayonets, ammunition and body armor at his home

Police say a Rockland County man with a cache of weapons made death threats on Facebook against Gov. Andrew Cuomo, Mayor Bloomberg and several members of Congress.

Clarkstown police say Lawrence Mulqueen, 49, singled out House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, Sen. Charles Schumer and members of the Congressional Black Caucus.

The Facebook page that a source tells NBC 4 New York was allegedly run by Mulqueen says "I cannot wait to start killing the scum" and then lists several public officials. In a comment below on the post, he allegedly says "I want these scumbags DEAD!!! ... Death to them all."

Police found two rifles, bulletproof body armor, bayonets, 100 rounds of ammunition -- including armor-piercing bullets -- and a sword at his home.

Mulqueen, whose Facebook page says he was born in the Bronx and raised in Manhattan, was arraigned Thursday on charges of making terroristic threats, illegally possessing weapons and harassment.

Police were called Wednesday afternoon by Mulqueen's landlady, who said he'd been harassing her.

"I didn't take him seriously," Fran Pillersdorf, 63, told NBC 4 New York. "I just found him exceedingly creepy. That's the danger."

Pillersdorf also tipped police to Mulqueen's alleged threats, made on a Facebook page under a pseudonym.

"I snooped," Pillersdorf admitted. "I was an Internet stalker. I wanted to make sure it didn't become real."

"If God forbid something had happened, we wouldn't want to look back and wonder why nothing had been done," said Clarkstown Police Sgt. Glen Cummings. "There were warning signs."

Police say the FBI helped with the investigation.

Mulqueen was charged with making terroristic threats and illegal weapons possession. A town court clerk says no lawyer is listed for Mulqueen in court records. He's being held at the Rockland County Correctional Facility until a court date Monday.
