Brooklyn Borough President Marty Markowitz popped up on the popular microblogging site Twitter just past midnight last Saturday night, writing "Everyone's Favorite Borough President just joined Twitter! How you doin'?"
Today, he's hoping on harnessing his Twitter friends' creative juices.
Earlier this afternoon, "@MartyMarkowitz" asked for a little help in coming up with new Brooklyn slogans. He tweeted, "I need to think up some new slogans for Brooklyn. Does anyone have ideas?" Well, New York, do you?
Back in 2005, Markowitz held a contest to find a similar slogan, and New Yorkers sent in over 1,000 entries ranging from "It's More Than A Freakin' Tree" to "The World's Favorite Neighborhood."
Well, no one's answered his call for help, so everyone's favorite borough president needs a few ideas for the world's favorite neighborhood. If you're on Twitter, just send out a reply to @MartyMarkowitz with your slogan.
Update: It's been pulled down for being an imposter account. His office told Gothamist: "Although the Borough President thinks Twitter is a wonderful way to keep in touch with family and friends, and would even consider joining one day, that is NOT his Twitter page. We are contacting Twitter to request that it be taken down."
