A man somehow got stuck inside a garbage incinerator chute in a Yonkers building Tuesday, police say.
A photo appears to show the 58-year-old man wedged so far inside the chute in a Riverdale Avenue building that only his bare feet are visible.
The man, who does not live in the building, was leaning into the first-floor chute to get cans to recycle when he was struck by a falling garbage bag from an above floor, according to Yonkers police.
Neighbor Tyronn Hawkins said he could hear the man's desperate screams for help around midnight Tuesday. He called the building's security office and asked them to check out his floor.
Police say the man was stuck for about an hour inside the opening less than 2 feet wide before help arrived.
He was taken to Jacobi Medical Center to be checked out. He wasn't seriously hurt, police say.
