A man drove away with a Greyhound bus on Manhattan’s West Side on Thursday afternoon, police said.
The man stole the parked bus from a Greyhound lot at West 40th Street and Dyer Avenue, according to Port Authority police spokesman Joseph Pentangelo. The lot is a few blocks away from Port Authority Bus Terminal.
Port Authority police received a call from a Greyhound dispatcher saying one of their buses had been stolen shortly before 2 p.m. Another Greyhound employee ended up flagging down Port Authority police officers to tell them that the bus was headed their way, Pentangelo said.
The officers pulled over the bus without incident less than 10 blocks south of the lot at West 31st Street and 10th Avenue, according to Pentangelo.
The suspect, identified as 54-year-old Charles Brown, was arrested. Charges against him were pending Thursday night.
Police are investigating a possible motive, and it's unclear what Brown allegedly planned to do with the stolen bus.

The abandoned bus was seen surrounded by police officers shortly before 3 p.m. It was eventualy escorted away by police vehicles.
It's not believed anyone was on the bus at the time, and no injuries were reported.
