Prosecutors have identified the East Orange man who was fatally shot by an off-duty Jersey City officer over the weekend.
Samir Nicholson, 24, died after being shot by the off-duty officer Saturday afternoon on South Clinton Street in East Orange, prosecutors said.
It appears the off-duty cop intervened when he saw Nicholson shooting another man, prosecutors say. The cop shot Nicholson, who was pronounced dead on the scene.
The other man allegedly shot by Nicholson was treated and released from University Hospital.
A gun was found on Nicholson.
