NYPD: Man, 62, Killed in West Village Drug Deal Gone Wrong

A 62-year-old man was shot and killed in an apparent drug deal gone wrong in Manhattan’s West Village, police say. Ida Siegal reports.

A 62-year-old man was shot and killed in an apparent drug deal gone wrong in Manhattan's West Village, police say.

The man died not long after letting a gunman into his apartment on Bedford Street near Christopher Street about 5 p.m., according to the NYPD.

According to police, the gunman shot the man, then stole items before leaving. It's not immediately apparent what exactly was stolen, but authorities suspect the shooter was after drugs.

Police say that the man's wife was in the home at the time but was uninjured. Detectives found several bags of marijuana along with drug paraphernalia after responding to the apartment. 

The suspect -- described by a man in his 30s -- was last seen running away on Christopher Street.
