The man suspected of planning the 2011 killing of his wife, and the woman accused of carrying out the attack, pleaded not guilty Monday in a New Jersey court.
Kashif Parvaiz, of New York, and Antionette Stephen, of Massachusetts, face murder, conspiracy and weapons charges in the killing of Nazish Noorani last August. Both are due in court on Monday, the Morris County prosecutor's office said.
Noorani, 27, was shot while walking with her husband, Parvaiz, and their 3-year-old son in the northern New Jersey suburb of Boonton.
Parvaiz claimed their attackers called the Pakistani-American couple "terrorists," but authorities retrieved text messages that led them to believe Parvaiz and Stephen planned the attack.
Parvaiz is being held on $3 million bond and Stephen, of Billerica, Mass., on $5 million bond.
