A construction worker in Queens has died after plunging down a 15-foot hole in Queens, officials said.
The man was working on the first floor of a four-story mixed-use building under construction at 45-11 Broadway in Astoria, a spokesman for the Department of Buildings said. He fell about 15 feet into a construction ditch.
He was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in Astoria with head trauma and in cardiac arrest, the spokesman, Tony Sclafani, said.
A full stop-work order has been issued for the site while the Department of Buildings continues its investigation.
The construction company listed for the site, Centex Builders in Astoria, could not immediately be reached for comment Thursday evening.
