A three-car accident that injured four people shut down two westbound lanes of the Long Island Expressway Wednesday morning, officials say.
The lanes were blocked between exits 15 and 16 for a time. One eastbound lane was also closed to give access to emergency vehicles.
Fire officials said they got the call about the accident shortly after 8 a.m.
One of the people hurt in the accident had serious injuries; the others were taken to hospitals with minor injuries, officials said.
The cause of the accident is under investigation.
