1. 2018 Was the Year of the Pop Ups in NYC

2018 was the year of the pop-up and even most of those were driven by food.

Candytopia made a sweet impression on the Big Apple. Of course there was the Rose Mansion, a pop up for pizza lovers in Brooklyn.

And then there was the Museum of Ice Cream's summer pint shop on 14th Street.

2. 2018 Was the Year of the Slice Shop in NYC

It's not just the City That Never Sleeps, it's the City Full of Awesome Eats and 2018 was the year of the Slice Shop.

In Manhattan, both sauce pizzeria and marinara kept it creative with their slices. While Paulie Gee decided to kick it old school with his new shop in Brooklyn.

And this year Detroit Style Pizza made a statement in Chelsea, with Lions and Tigers and Square serving up pies on 23rd Street.

3. NYC Took Ice Cream to the Next Level in 2018

And it may be cold outside, but if this year has proven anything it is that it is never too cool for ice cream.

Ample Hills opened up a giant ice cream factory in Red Hook, while Odd Fellows launched an ice cream happy hour in Dumbo.

Then Manhattan favorite Morgenstern's turned a scoop shop into an experience in the Village.
