Bird Strike Forces Plane to Make Emergency Landing at LaGuardia

An airplane made an emergency landing at LaGuardia Airport just after takeoff Thursday afternoon after a reported bird strike, officials say.

The American Eagle Envoy 3530 flight landed on runway 4 after a bird strike on the left flap of the jet, the Port Authority said.

The flight had just departed LaGuardia to go to Detroit when it hit the bird or birds, officials said. The pilot declared an emergency and returned to LaGuardia where it landed without incident.
