Gaffe-Prone Biden Tells Frisco Crowd Giants Are Super Bowl-Bound

The vice president apologized, saying he confused the Bay Area baseball team with its football team. Or maybe he's secretly a New York fan.

Oops, he did it again.

Vice President Joe Biden drew a round of boos Wednesday afternoon when he told a crowd at a campaign event in San Francisco that "the Giants are on their way to the Super Bowl."

The gaffe-prone politician quickly recognized his mistake and apologized, saying he confused San Francisco's baseball team with its football team, according to the Oakland Tribune.

The New York Giants face the San Francisco 49ers in the NFC Championship game at Candlestick Park on Sunday.

Biden spoke at a closed event Wednesday in the city's Financial District in support of President Barack Obama's re-election. It was one of a handful of stops he and his wife made in the Bay Area.

The vice president's propensity for gaffes is well-documented. He has been caught on camera dropping the f-bomb a time or two.

There is a list of so-called "Bidenisms" at this link, which includes speaking of the Irish Prime Minister's mother as if she were dead when she was very much alive and calling Supreme Court Justice John Paul Stevens "Justice Stewart."
