Ten families were displaced and seven buildings were damaged after a fire raged through several buildings in Jersey City Wednesday.
The four-alarm fire erupted at a building on Belmont Avenue near Crescent Avenue in the early afternoon, and was under control by about 3 p.m.
The Red Cross said 23 people were displaced.

Officials said one firefighter was "buzzed" by an electrical outlet and a fire captain suffered chest pains and was taken to the hospital. No other injuries were reported.
A gas can outside the building was taken and is being analyzed to determine whether gas was used as an accelerant.
