When the creator and showrunner of the hit Netflix series “House of Cards” wrote about a pressure-packed situation Sunday in Manhattan he found himself, not smooth-talking Washington politicians, at the center of the drama.
Producer Beau Willimon tweeted that he was stuck in an elevator for about an hour and a half Sunday morning before being rescued by the FDNY. Willimon also sent out a photo posing with a firefighter.
“I was stuck in an elevator for an hour & half and @FDNY 1 TRUCK rescued me,” Willimon said in the tweet. “THANKS New York’s Bravest!”
The FDNY confirmed the rescue, saying the producer was stuck at a building on Park Place in Tribeca.

Willimon is credited with creating the political drama starring Kevin Spacey and Robin Wright. The show's first season won three Primetime Emmys last year and was nominated for several more. Netflix released the show’s second season on Friday.
