26-Year-Old Woman on Sidewalk Killed in Taxi Hit-Run: Police

A Queens restaurant owner is mourning the death of his 26-year-old daughter, killed after she was allegedly run over by a green cab. Wale Aliyu reports.

A woman was struck and killed in Queens by a taxi that fled the scene on Sunday, police said. The driver was later arrested. 

Sherena Hundalani, 26, of Queens, was walking on the sidewalk when she was struck by a taxi that was driving out of a gas station, police said. 

The 55-year-old driver was stopped by good Samaritans about a 10-minute drive away in Corona, the NYPD said. Charges were pending. 

Hundalani was struck at Queens Boulevard and 63rd Drive by a green taxi, police said. She was pronounced dead at Elmhurst Hospital. 

A neighbor choked up as he told News 4 how kind and positive Hundalani was.
