The son of the NYPD's police commissioner returned to work Friday, thanking people for their support during an investigation into a woman's claim that he sexually assaulted her. The DA dropped the investigation this week and did not charge him.
"It was a touchy couple of weeks, obviously, for a lot of people," said Greg Kelly, anchor of "Good Day New York." "And I'm very, very grateful for all the support I had here at Fox 5."
He then thanked his family, friends and viewers for their "positive remarks" on social media. He saved most of his gratitude for co-anchor Rosanna Scotto.
"You ready to get back to work?" he asked.
Kelly took a leave of absence from the show on Jan. 26, the day after his accuser filed a complaint against him.
Manhattan District Attorney Cyrus Vance Jr. announced Tuesday no charges would be filed against Kelly in connection with the complaint.
Kelly released a statement after the district attorney's decision that said in part, “I am thankful that the investigation established what I've known all along, that I am innocent of the allegations that were waged against me."
She and Kelly exchanged phone and text messages afterward that appeared friendly in nature; he expressed that he wanted to see her again and she indicated she had a good time, a source close to the investigation said.
