Greg Kelly Returns to Work After Investigation Dropped

The "Good Day New York" anchor thanked his family, friends, and fans for their support.

The son of the NYPD's police commissioner returned to work Friday, thanking people for their support during an investigation into a woman's claim that he sexually assaulted her. The DA dropped the investigation this week and did not charge him.

"It was a touchy couple of weeks, obviously, for a lot of people," said Greg Kelly, anchor of "Good Day New York." "And I'm very, very grateful for all the support I had here at Fox 5."

He then thanked his family, friends and viewers for their "positive remarks" on social media. He saved most of his gratitude for co-anchor Rosanna Scotto.

"You ready to get back to work?" he asked.

Kelly took a leave of absence from the show on Jan. 26, the day after his accuser filed a complaint against him.

Manhattan District Attorney Cyrus Vance Jr. announced Tuesday no charges would be filed against Kelly in connection with the complaint.

Kelly released a statement after the district attorney's decision that said in part, “I am thankful that the investigation established what I've known all along, that I am innocent of the allegations that were waged against me."

The woman who filed the complaint told police she and Kelly met on the street and went to have drinks at Jeremy's Ale House at South Street Seaport. Afterward they went to her office at a law firm, and that's where she claimed the rape occurred.

She and Kelly exchanged phone and text messages afterward that appeared friendly in nature; he expressed that he wanted to see her again and she indicated she had a good time, a source close to the investigation said.
