Authorities arrested more than a dozen suspected gang members in a sweeping drug and gun bust Wednesday, law enforcement sources familiar with the investigation tell NBC 4 New York.
The NYPD and FBI executed the arrests in the Bronx.
Prosecutors said the suspects were members of the Crips gang and used violence while battling the rival Bloods for territory in the North Bronx. The gang members in custody have flooded the streets with heroin, crack and cocaine, prosecutors said.
"The dismantling of this crew and the amount of evidence seized represents a significant blow to criminal networks operating in the Bronx," NYPD Commissioner James O’Neill said.
