Sixteen people were injured, including 13 firefighters, in a four-alarm house fire in the Bronx early Sunday evening, officials said.
The fire, at 2860 Valentine Ave. in Bedford Park, spread to two neighboring buildings, according to the FDNY. The blaze started at around 5 p.m. in a vacant wood-frame house and spread to the two buildings next door.
All of the injuries were minor, authorities said.
It took around 180 firefighters to get the fire under control, according to Ronald Spadafora, an assistant chief with the FDNY.
"Firefighters were confronted with a large amount of fire," Spadafora said. "They moved in on the fire initially and eventually we pulled them out because of the magnitude of the fire and the structural soundness of the building."
No word yet on what caused the fire.
