Firefighter Injured in Massive Blaze at Lumber Business: Officials

A firefighter sustained minor injuries following a large fire at a lumber distribution center in Warwick, officials said.

Close to 20 fire departments battled the blaze for hours at Mid-State Lumber on Kings Highway Thursday afternoon, according to the Warwick Fire Department.

Officials say the business’s main building and surrounding structures have been destroyed.

Firefighters had to rely on their water tanks to put out the fire, which they say happened in a non-hydrant area.

The cause of the fire was not immediately known.
