Two boys were taken to the hospital with injuries after they were hit by a large tree branch while playing inside a park in the Bronx, police said.
The boys, who are half-brothers, were playing inside a playground at a city park Monday afternoon in West Farms when a tree came crashing down and the branch hit the boys, ages 8 and 9, officials said.
The city's parks department said it's shut down the palyground area until the tree is removed. Inspectors are also checking out the parks, as they routinely do.
One of the boys has been released from the hospital, while the other remains in serious condition, police said.
