A car accident in a shopping center parking lot killed an elderly woman and injured two others on Saturday, Yonkers Police Department officials said.
A Ford Focus traveling southbound on Central Park Avenue was making a left turn into the parking lot of a shopping center at 2550 Central Park Ave. when it hit a Chevy Tahoe traveling in the opposite direction shortly after 11 a.m., police said.
Yonkers police and fire units at the scene of the crash removed an 81-year-old passenger from the Ford Focus. Ambulance personnel immediately performed CPR on the elderly victim before taking her to Lawrence Hospital, where she was pronounced dead shortly before noon.
The drivers of the vehicles were treated for non-life threatening injuries, authorities said.
No charges have been brought at this time. The investigation is ongoing.
