Educational NYC Puppet Show Faces Funding Problem
Young elementary students in New York schools are learning about sexual abuse through puppets. It seems like such a heavy topic for little kids, but the program creators say the words are carefully chosen to address sexual and physical abuse in an age appropriate way. Founders say the presentation has been effective, with 800 students coming forward to report the abuse to puppeteers — who are trained social workers — but the program is now facing funding problems. Melissa Russo reports.
