A 41-story building in New York City that has been shrouded in black netting ever since it was badly damaged in the World Trade Center attack is finally almost gone.
Nearly a decade after the terror attack, the former Deutsche Bank building is down from 41 stories to two. The sad history of the building includes lawsuits, accidents and a fire that killed two firefighters in 2007.
The building was contaminated on 9/11 with toxins including asbestos, lead, mercury, PCBs and dioxins.
The delicate work of dismantling a skyscraper is visible from surrounding buildings and from the street.
Tourists watched last week as a huge crane gently lowered a steel beam. Sparks flew as a welder removed the cables holding the beam.
Officials say the deconstruction will be complete in a little over a week.
