A 43-year-old man was arrested and charged with murder after his parents were found stabbed to death inside their New Jersey home, prosecutors say.
Officers found the bodies of Edward Boduch, 71, and Miroslawa Potocka, 72, in their home on Lafayette Place in Englewood Saturday morning after a family member who hadn't been able to reach them for a few days asked police to conduct a welfare check, the Bergen County Prosecutor's Office said.
Their son, Pawel Boduch, has been arrested and charged with two counts of murder and one count of possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, prosecutors say. He was expected to appear in court on Sunday.
His attorney information wasn't immediately available.
Boduch had gone to ShopRite in his parents' car, then ran off as the store was locked down and searched, Mayor Michael Wildes said. He was apprehended when he returned to the car later.
Englewood Police Chief Lawrence Suffern said there was no threat to public safety. Boduch lived at the Lafayette Place home with his parents, according to prosecutors.
Suffern said it was one of the couple's two sons who asked police to check on the house.
