A 3-year-old child somehow fell from a sixth-floor window in Queens, landing on a third-floor canopy that may have broken the fall and saved the toddler's life, police said Thursday.
The child was taken to a hospital in critical condition after the fall near 39th Avenue and Union Street around 10:30 a.m. A short time later, the toddler's condition had been upgraded to stable, with police saying the child was conscious and alert.
Chopper 4 showed a heavy emergency response in the area. It wasn't clear how the child fell, nor who was caring for the toddler at the time.
