Police are investigating after a small gasoline explosion caused minor damage to several apartments at a building in Chelsea early Monday, authorities say.
Fire and police crews were called to the explosion in an apartment in the building on West 25th Street shortly before 2 a.m., officials say. The blast sparked a small fire and caused residual damage in units below.
No one was injured, officials say.
Consolidated Edison determined gasoline, not natural gas, caused the fire.
