Chelsea Clinton Wedding Expected to Cost Up to $5M

Town approves spending $2,500 for extra police coverage

Good thing Bil and 'Hil have been saving up.

Chelsea Clinton is slated to wed investment banker Marc Mezvinsky on a private Rhinebeck estate near the river this weekend in a much anticipated, swanky affair that's expected to set her parents back up to $5 million, according to a published report.

Chelsea is the only daughter of former president Bill and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton – and the Democratic power couple apparently isn't cutting any corners when it comes to giving their little girl what many are calling the Wedding of the Century.

The super-secret nuptials won't come cheap for the town either. On Monday, the Rhinebeck Town Council approved spending $2,500 for extra police coverage.

The Clintons have refused to disclose the location of the wedding. But Rhinebeck Supervisor Thomas Traudt said based on his conversations with state and county police, the extra service this weekend would be helpful.

Super celebrities like Oprah and President Barack Obama are rumored to be on the guest list, which the Daily News reports equals out to about $6,000 a head. Security alone, given the star-studded nature of the event, could cost up to $200,000.

One resident at the council meeting shouted that the extra expenses should be paid for by the father of the bride.

No doubt taxpayers agree.
