A car somehow smashed into a doctor's office in Yonkers Monday morning, spewing debris and broken glass all over the waiting room inside and the sidewalk outside, authorities say.

Yonkers Police tweeted a photo of a sedan flipped on its side, its roof and windshield torn off as it sat wedged halfway inside a medical office on South Broadway just before 10 a.m.

Authorities say the driver, a 68-year-old man, was the single occupant of the vehicle and may have had a medical issue when he abruptly reversed into the building. He was taken to a local hospital for evaluation.

"My employees were stunned," said Diana Sayegh, the office manager at the practice. "They were shaken, hysterical crying, and everyone had to console each other because they could have gotten hurt."

Medical director Dr. Nader Sayegh said everyone was devastated and scared, but noted that inside the normally packed waiting room, for whatever reason, no one was sitting in the path of the out-of-control car.

"The fact that nobody got hurt is a miracle," said Diana Sayegh. "It's a blessing."

The medical office is a group practice specializing in family medicine, diabetes, inernal medicine and other fields.

The investigation is ongoing.
