A third person has been confirmed dead by police after a car flew off the Henry Hudson Parkway early Monday and crashed into the Amtrak tracks just below the George Washington Bridge.
Officials initially reported two deaths in the crash, the driver and a passenger, at roughly 181st Street and the southbound side of the parkway. The crash occurred around 1:45 a.m.
The NYPD said the car in question appeared to lose control and strike a concrete wall before going off the roadway.
In addition to the driver who was ejected from the car and a female passenger found dead inside, police said a third person was discovered underneath the vehicle. The driver has been identified as 39-year-old Edger Valette.
