A passenger has been arrested for allegedly punching and biting a taxi driver earlier this month.
Police arrested Francisco Solano on Wednesday and charged him with misdemeanor assault.
Driver Haroon Rashid said he needed 10 stitches for the bite behind his ear. The incident occurred Oct. 2 in Manhattan.
It wasn't immediately clear if Solano had a lawyer.
The New York Taxi Workers Alliance said police initially let the passenger go after telling both men they could go free or go to jail.
Rashid decided not to file a complaint because he needed medical attention and didn't want to be arrested.
The passenger and his companion were allowed to leave.
