The FDNY says at least six people were injured, but all are expected to recover. News 4’s Melissa Colorado reports.

A fire interrupted Easter services at a Brooklyn church on Sunday, triggering a massive FDNY response.

The 5-alarm fire broke out before 2 p.m. at Our Lady of Rosary Pompeii Church in Bushwick. Crews shut down Seigel Street while they continued fighting the fire into the afternoon.

At least six people were being treated for injuries sustained in the fire, the FDNY posted on X. Three parishioners and three firefighters were among those injured, and all their injuries were said to be minor.

Witnesses said there were people inside the church when the fire broke out celebrating the Easter holiday. The last mass time listed on the church's website for Sunday is 1 p.m.

An estimated 100 people had packed the pews for the afternoon mass.

FDNY officials said firefighters were able to save the church, but a portion of the second floor collapsed and sent a firefighter falling. That FDNY member was not seriously injured.

The church's rectory was not as fortunate -- officials said there was extensive damage done to the residence.
