A candle sparked a fire killed an 8-year-old boy in Queens early Sunday morning, officials said.
The fire broke out at a home on 160th Street, between North Conduit Avenue and 140th Avenue in Springfield Gardens just before 3 a.m. Sunday, police said.
Eight-year-old Tighani Jones, who lived at the home, was pronounced dead at the scene, the NYPD said.
A candle sparked the deadly blaze, the FDNY said Sunday afternoon. There was a smoke alarm inside the home, but it wasn't working, according to the department.
Six other people were taken to the hospital for treatment of minor injuries, including smoke inhalation, according to police.
