Cities around the world are being shrunken down for a new attraction in Times Square.
Gulliver's Gate opened for previews at 216 W. 44th Street Thursday, according to a release. The $40 million project features over 300 built-to-scale models of scenes from around the globe, including "hundreds of moving model trains and vehicles, ships that sail and planes that take off and land."
Grocery Stores Opening in New York City and New Jersey
The block-long interactive miniature world is inspired by Jonathan Swift's "Gulliver's Travels," a fantasy novel where a traveler becomes a giant on a shrunken island whose inhabitants are just six inches tall.
Visitors can find minature scenes from New York City, Latin America, Europe, Russia, Asia and the Middle East. popular monuments and tourist sites for each, like the Parthenon, Big Ben and the Taj Mahal.
Guests can create mini versions of themselves using a full-body scanner and 3D printer that they can keep as a souvenir or leave behind to become part of the attraction.
Gulliver's Gate has an official opening date of May 8. You can buy tickets online until May 8 for $25 for adults ages 13 to 64 and $22 for children ages 3 to 12 and seniors. After the attraction opens, admission will be $31 online and $36 at the box office for adults and $22 online and $27 at the box office for children and seniors.
