A New York rabbi disappeared into a lake after trying to help kids get back up on a boat with their parents.
Greenwood Lake police on Monday discovered the body of Rabbi Dovid Traube the day after he drowned in body of fresh water 50 miles northwest of New York City.
Witnesses told police that two children jumped off a pontoon boat, became distressed and that's when Traube jumped in to help. With the assistant of another person, Traube got the children back on the boat but he then submerged and disappeared.
Emergency officials were called to rescue him but the search had to be call off Sunday night due to storms and darkness.
Police say they found Traube's body Monday morning.
