A woman who was walking home early Friday was attacked and raped on her front lawn in Freeport, authorities say.

Nassau County police say a stranger attacked the woman on her own front lawn at some point around 1:30 a.m., hitting the 36-year-old victim in the face and knocking her unconscious. When she regained consciousness, she realized she was being sexually assaulted, authorities say.

The victim's family told NBC 4 New York she was walking home from a relative's family last night when the alleged attack occurred.

"She was walking home from my sister's house and got here, and that's when she was attacked," said the victim's uncle, who asked to remain anonymous to protect her identity.

Neighbors don't recall hearing any screams, but there was a broken window in the front of her house. Police say the victim threw a rock at the window as a cry for help during the attack.

The attack happened right underneath the victim's family's surveillance camera, relatives said. The video was turned over to the police, but they couldn't see the rapist's face.

The attack lasted an hour, the disturbing video shows.

The victim is recovering at a relative's home, her family told NBC 4 New York.

The suspect fled the scene in an unknown direction. He is described as being 5'7" to 5'8" tall with a slight to medium build. He was wearing blue jeans and a long green shirt.

The investigation is ongoing.

Authorities urge anyone with information to call the Special Victim's Squad at 516-573-4022 or call 911.
