Cops are investigating how a woman’s newborn suddenly died inside a Queens hotel.
Law enforcement sources familiar with the investigation tell NBC 4 New York that a woman called police stating her pregnant daughter was going to hurt herself. Police said cops rushed to the Days Inn on Queens Boulevard in Long Island City and found the 35-year-old woman and unconscious infant inside one of the guest rooms.
Law enforcement sources tell News 4 they believe the baby was born somewhere between the time the woman called police and the time they arrived at the hotel. They added that there were complications with the birth of the baby and that the baby appeared to be premature.
The woman and newborn were rushed to an area hospital, where the infant was pronounced dead, police said.
The investigation is ongoing. A medical examiner will determine the newborn’s exact cause of death.
