Four teens are facing charges in an alleged sexual assault on a girl at Hoboken High School, according to authorities.
The attack happened Nov. 30, when a group of teens allegedly shoved a 17-year-old girl into a room at the school and forced her to perform a sex act on one of them, according to a criminal complaint.
Surveillance video captured the boys pushing the girl into the room, the complaint obtained by News 4 says. One of the suspects, 18-year-old Amir Goodwin, allegedly recorded the attack on his cellphone.
The girl reported the attack immediately afterward, and the first two arrests were made within hours, according to a law enforcement source.
Police say the suspects and the victim were friends. Friends of one of the suspects said Wednesday they're stunned by the allegations and that he'd never been in trouble before.
Goodwin is being charged as an adult; the other teens are 16 and 17, and are being charged as juveniles in family court.
“There will be a thorough investigation of this case which is deeply disturbing on so many levels; the ages of all the alleged individuals involved, the acts alleged, and the brazenness of where they took place. Children in school need to feel safe and parents need to feel confident of their safety,” said Hudson County Prosecutor Edther Suarez. “We will continue to investigate and will certainly prosecute this case to the fullest extent of the law.”
