There's a new law for New York landlords about bed bug infestations: What to know

A new bill that was signed into law may help many New Yorkers sleep tight.

Landlords in the state will soon be required to alert their tenants of bed bug infestations within 72 hours, according to the law signed by Gov. Kathy Hochul on Friday.

Building owners will need to provide a written notice to tenants that are in close proximity to the bugs.

The law takes effect. Dec. 22.
