Monday commuters found themselves facing another day and another round of delays for New Jersey Transit and Amtrak. News 4’s Charles Watson reports.
NJ Transit rail passengers heading into or out of Penn Station New York faced delays of up to an hour Monday morning. Following an earlier suspension, Northeast Corridor and North Jersey Coast Line rail service have resumed with limited service.
The railroad said the delays were due to Amtrak overhead wire issues near Newark Penn Station.
Eastbound Midtown Direct service into New York was diverted to Hoboken. Raritan Valley Line Service was originating and ending at Newark Penn.
NJ Transit rail tickets continued to be cross-honored by PATH at the Newark, Hoboken and 33rd Street-NY stations into the evening. NJ Transit and private carrier buses also honored rail tickets during the day.

Amtrak service restored between Philadelphia and New York
Amtrak service was also suspended between New York (NYP) and Philadelphia (PHL) due to the "overhead wire damage," the company said. The service was restored around 12 p.m., with delays up to an hour between Newark and New York.
Service on Amtrak was back to normal by Monday evening.
ALERT UPDATE: Service on the Northeast Corridor (NEC) was partially restored. When traveling between Newark (NWK ) and New York (NYP), delays of up to 1 hour are anticipated. We will provide an update as we work to restore full service.
