An NJ Transit bus lost control and slammed into a Leonia business, clipping the side of the building before veering down an embankment and coming to a halt just feet from a nearby apartment building. No injuries were reported. NBC New York’s Adam Harding reports.

An investigation is underway after a non-passenger NJ Transit bus with a student driver aboard slammed into a building in New Jersey Wednesday, the agency says.

The student driver and instructor were the only two people aboard the bus when it hit a building. A witness said the driver had made a right turn from Fort Lee Road onto Grand Avenue in Leonia just before 9 a.m. NJ Transit didn't say who was driving.

The crash caused significant structural damage to the building and shattered the bus windshield, but no injuries were reported. The building was vacant and unoccupied at the time of the crash, according to a Leonia official.

Neighbors said the intersection is not only busy, but it can be tricky.
