The NYPD is searching for two gunman who shot a driver while trying to steal his Maserati at an East Harlem gas station. NBC New York’s Gaby Acevedo reports.

Police are searching for the suspects who shot the driver of a Maserati multiple times in an attempted carjacking Wednesday morning in East Harlem, the NYPD said.

Police received a 911 call just before 8:30 a.m. about a shooting at a BP gas station near East 129th Street and Park Avenue.

When officers arrived, they found a man with multiple gunshot injuries, including to his arm, leg and shoulder, police said.

The 34-year-old victim was attempting to put fuel up his Maserati at the gas station when the suspects tried to swipe the car and fired several shots before taking off, police said. Surveillance video showed the car pulling out of the station, with one of the alleged suspects falling out of the back seat on the passenger side.

That man stumbled and appeared to drop something before picking it up and joining a second man in running away on the sidewalk. That came after the victim had been shot three times.

The victim was taken to the hospital for treatment. He was expected to survive. The luxury car was left behind with all four doors open, and blood seen on the driver's side door. It was later towed away by police.

It's unclear if the attack was random or if the driver was targeted. Police were searching for at least two suspects.
