All eastbound lanes of the Long Island Expressway were closed Monday morning as police investigated a deadly pre-dawn crash, according to Suffolk County police.
Officials had closed down LIE lanes in Melville at Broadhollow Road due to their investigation.
The crash happened at around 5 a.m., police said. The lanes were closed throughout the morning rush hour and up until noon. The lanes were back open around 12 p.m.
Police confirmed a male driver left the roadway and crashed into trees near the Route 110 overpass. He was pronounced dead.

Four other passengers were injured in the crash, according to police. Two of those hurt suffered serious injuries.
