Fashion Week's Most Anticipated Musical Performances

The tradition of live musical performances at fashion shows has been increasing in popularity every season, and this Fashion Week will be no exception, will big industry names lending their pipes in the service of style.

Among the week's highlights, reports WWD: Natasha Bedingfield is booked to perform at Boy Meets Girl, while Sean Lennon and Charlotte Kemp Muhl of The Ghost of a Saber Tooth Tiger will rock it out at Rebecca Minkoff's presentation. At United Bamboo, Peter Kemper (of "Sonic Boom") is lending his musical talents, and R&B singer Kat DeLuna will do the same at Sachika. Thom Bullock, an NYC DJ who produced music for Daryl Kerrigan and Josh Madden, will perform live at the EMU show.

Musical performances heighten the "happening live" excitement at a fashion show', but big names (Sean Lennon, say) also serve to lure numbers to smaller presentations that might not attract the same attendance without the promise of live music. Up-and-comer Rachel Antonoff is a spectacular example: this season, the designer will present her collection at an event called "The Dance." Set in LaGuardia High School's gym, guests are invited to enjoy a set by The Like while sipping fruit punch and reliving their (presumably less stylish) youths.
