“These people live in Hollywood. I live in my little flat in South East London," Wood, 30, told The Hollywood Reporter in an article published Feb. 26. "I’m so British in my sensibility that I wasn’t sure how to handle being around so many people who are so front-footed and confident. All I ever do is take the piss out of myself."

Her newfound confidence also helped her to score the role on the anthology series, of which she was initially a huge fan. When her former "The Electrical Life of Louis Wain" director became involved in the show, she decided it was time to throw her hat in the ring.

Indeed, she could, as she scored the role of Chelsea, joining cast members including Patrick Schwarzenegger, Leslie Bibb and Parker Posey in the Thailand-set third installment of the HBO series.

But as for her biggest takeaways from the experience of working in the industry, which has now taken her all over the globe, it’s been learning to take pride in her roots.

“I spent a lot of my life worrying about being weird,” she added. “Now I’m realizing it could be my superpower.”
