When do polls close on Election Day?: See the state-by-state list

Voters have their chance to cast their ballot in-person on Tuesday across the United States in the 2024 presidential election.

So when do polls close? It depends on where you live, and could come down to the county or the time zone.

Here are the state by state poll closing times in the United States (*Due to differences in some state closing times based on county or precinct, it is always best to check with your local or state board of elections for closing times in your area):

  • Alabama: 7 p.m. local time/8 p.m. ET (all polls closed by 8 p.m. ET; locally polls close at 7 p.m. based on county)
  • Alaska: 8 p.m. local time/1 a.m. ET
  • Arizona: 7 p.m. local time/9 p.m. ET
  • Arkansas: 7:30 p.m. local time/8:30 p.m. ET
  • California: 8 p.m. local time/11 p.m. ET
  • Colorado: 7 p.m. local time/9 p.m. ET
  • Connecticut: 8 p.m. local time/8 p.m. ET
  • Delaware: 8 p.m. local time/8 p.m. ET
  • District of Columbia: 8 p.m. local time/8 p.m. ET
  • Florida: 7 p.m. local time/8 p.m. ET (all polls closed by 8 p.m. ET; locally polls close at 7 p.m. based on your time zone)
  • Georgia: 7 p.m. local time/7 p.m. ET
