Angry Tweets Aimed at Wrong Ferguson Township Police

A small Pennsylvania police force is being confused with another by the same name that's involved in violent clashes with protesters in Missouri.

The Ferguson Township department in Centre County, Pennsylvania, uses the Twitter handle @FergusonTwpPD.

The account has been the target of angry tweets from people upset with officers in the St. Louis suburb of Ferguson, Missouri.

The Missouri force has been blasted for its handling of demonstrators protesting the fatal police shooting of teenager Michael Brown Jr.

Ferguson, Pennsylvania, Chief Diane Conrad tells WJAC-TV there's not much she can do about the mistaken identity.

Her department has tweeted once to clarify the issue: "Ferguson Township Police is in PA and not the agency involved in the shooting incident. @stlcountypd is who you want to contact.''
