Cabbie Hit by Car Unloading Luggage, Loses Leg

Doctors had to amputate the cabbie's left leg, and are trying to save his right leg.

A New York City cab driver is still in a coma a week after he was hit by a car as he unloaded a passenger's luggage and his leg had to be amputated.

The Daily News reports that the accident happened Feb. 23 in midtown Manhattan. Cabbie Sajjad Matin had stopped to unload a passenger's luggage from the trunk when a blue SUV slammed into him.

The News says the impact left Matin's legs impossibly twisted. Doctors had to amputate his left leg. They are trying to save his right leg.

The driver's wife, Saira Ali Matin, said she is worried about how he'll react when he wakes up.

SUV driver Natasha Milbourne-Graham was charged with felony assault and drunken driving. She was released on $15,000 bail.
