SPCA of Westchester, Mt Vernon Police Seek People Who Starved Three Dogs to Death

There is a $1,000 reward for the conviction of those responsible

Police are looking for the person or people who starved a pit bull puppy to death in Mount Vernon, after making the gruesome discovery of the animal's emaciated body last week.

Police and animal authorities in Mount Vernon received the tip last Friday about three dead dogs in the yard of a property on First Ave. Before they could arrive, the SPCA of Westchester said in a release, two of the dogs were removed.

The remaining puppy, a male, was six to eight months old and was "essentially skin and bones," the SPCA said. An image distributed by the agency shows the animal lying in a small cage, covered in filth.

The New York State Humane Association is offering a $1,000 reward for the arrest and conviction of those responsible.
